Nairobi turned into the center of African diplomacy this week as more than 30 African presidents, heads of government, global investors, and international leaders gathered for the highly anticipated Africa Forward Summit 2026.

Co-hosted by President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit brought together some of the continent’s most influential leaders to discuss Africa’s future in innovation, trade, investment, climate action, technology, and economic growth.

Among the African presidents and leaders spotted in Nairobi were:

• William Ruto — Host of the summit and Kenya’s Head of State leading discussions on economic reforms and African sovereignty.

• Bola Ahmed Tinubu — Representing Africa’s largest economy and pushing for stronger continental partnerships.

• Bassirou Diomaye Faye — One of Africa’s newest reform-focused leaders advocating for youth-driven governance.

• Alassane Ouattara — Veteran West African leader focused on economic transformation and regional stability.

• Julius Maada Bio — Known for education reforms and governance initiatives.

• Joseph Nyuma Boakai — Liberia’s leader focused on rebuilding institutions and economic recovery.

• Paul Kagame — Widely recognized for technology-driven governance and Rwanda’s rapid development agenda.

• Brice Oligui Nguema — Attending amid growing discussions about leadership transitions in Central Africa.

The summit also attracted major international organizations including the African Union, the United Nations, African Development Bank, IMF representatives, and top CEOs from across Africa and Europe.

Key discussions at the summit focused on:

• African debt and financial reforms
• Youth empowerment
• Peace and security

President Ruto emphasized that Africa wants partnerships based on equality and mutual respect rather than dependency, while Macron announced billions in investment commitments aimed at boosting Africa’s development and innovation sectors.

Social media exploded with images of presidential motorcades, high-level meetings, and symbolic moments — including Emmanuel Macron jogging with marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge in Nairobi.

For two days, Nairobi became the meeting point of Africa’s political and economic future.
