Kenyans are once again staring at a painful increase in fuel prices after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced new pump prices this evening.
In the latest review effective from midnight, Super Petrol has increased by KSh16.65 per litre while Diesel has skyrocketed by KSh46.29 per litre. Kerosene prices, however, remain unchanged.
Under the new prices, Nairobi motorists will now pay:
- Super Petrol — KSh214.25 per litre
- Diesel — KSh242.92 per litre
- Kerosene — KSh152.78 per litre
The sharp rise is expected to trigger a chain reaction across the economy, with transport costs, food prices, and the cost of essential goods likely to rise in the coming days.
Diesel users are among the hardest hit, with matatu operators, truck drivers, businesses, and manufacturers now facing record-high operational costs. Analysts warn that the increase could worsen the already difficult cost of living situation affecting millions of Kenyans.
EPRA says the rise has been caused by increased global oil prices and ongoing tensions in the Middle East that continue to disrupt international fuel supply chains.
The announcement has already sparked outrage online, with many Kenyans questioning how ordinary citizens will survive amid rising taxes, expensive food, and now soaring fuel prices.
As the new prices take effect tonight, many households are preparing for another wave of economic pressure.
Will the government intervene again — or are tougher days still ahead for Kenyans?
