John Mbadi has launched a fierce attack against former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i following growing criticism of the Finance Bill 2026.
During a heated public address and Finance Bill town hall discussion, Mbadi accused opposition leaders of misleading Kenyans by calling for total rejection of the Bill without proposing alternatives.
🗣️ MBADI TO MATIANG’I: “STOP MISLEADING KENYANS”
In his sharp response, Mbadi questioned Matiang’i’s credibility, reminding him that he served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration where multiple Finance Bills were passed.
Mbadi argued that leaders seeking the presidency should offer solutions instead of inciting public anger over taxation issues.
The Treasury CS described blanket calls to reject the Finance Bill as:
- “reckless”
- “irresponsible”
- and politically motivated.
đź’Ą WHAT STARTED THE CLASH?
The political war erupted after Matiang’i urged Kenyans to completely reject the Finance Bill 2026, claiming it contains punitive tax measures that would worsen the cost of living crisis.
Critics of the Bill have raised concerns over:
- Increased taxes
- Digital transaction costs
- Mobile phone excise duty proposals
- Rental income tax changes
